P.S. A LITTLE BACKGROUNDER

I started my journalism journey in 2001, fresh from High School. A year later, I joined the collegiate publication where I got exposed to the job even more.

At 18, I ventured into community journalism and mainstream media.

In 2009 however, blogging became popular and I was among some of the first bloggers in the Metro who saw its meteoric rise while social media platforms MySpace and Friendster saw its demise as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram came into the picture.

YouTube paved a way for vloggers until pandemic happened, and Tiktok dominated the short form contents.

For this writer, the difficulties of maintaining a blog came as early as 2014, when I decided to change career. But once a creator and journalist, forever we will be, I guess.

So, despite cringing, I started vlogging in 2024: https://www.youtube.com/@elyvalendez. Now, as I’m nearing my 100th vlog, I decided to revive this blog to complement moving pictures with the written words.
