ENDED WITH A WEIRD political question about choosing who between US Presidential Candidates Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton they would choose to work with the efforts to end the war during its final Question and Answer portion, Miss Grand International crowned Indonesian beauty Ariska Putri Pertiwi over the witty Miss Philippines Nicole Cordoves on Tuesday night, October 25 in Las Vegas (Wednesday morning in Asia).

Pertiwi chose Clinton delivering it in a pageant-sy style while Cordoves chose Trump in a sense that she wanted to win an opponent onto her side so he could work with her in her cause to stop the war. It was a witty answer but it was not enough to win her the crown.

Don’t get me wrong, though. The 21-year old Indonesian beauty deserves the crown. She is beautiful and elegant, and I think she will do good as the next face of the four-year-old pageant whose main thrust is to stop war and violence through its education efforts.

Truth be told, we already identified Pertiwi as the biggest threat to Nicole as we posted yesterday on this post.

Thailand’s Supaporn Malisorn completed the fierce battle of Asian beauties in the Top 3. Malisorn placed second runner-up. The Thai beauty faltered during the question and answer though her answer of having Clinton for she’s her idol gets a thumbs up from the crowd.

The beautiful Puerto Rican candidate, also our bet, Madison Sara Anderson placed third runner-up. She was for Clinton.

Miss USA Michelle Leon, 19, who was booed by the crowd when she chose Trump, thus, failing to elaborate her answer, placed fourth runner-up.

Completing the Top 10 are candidates from Korea, Peru, Ukraine, Macau, and the Bahamas.

The Top 20 include Jamaica, Spain, Mexico, Portugal, Venezuela, Malaysia, Australia, Vietnam, Tahiti, and Wales.

There’s still a lot of improvement to do in terms of production and media mileage with over 130,000 viewers on its Facebook live coverage compared with other pageants’ millions of followers but putting the crown to Indonesia’s head seems a good sign that Miss Grand International knows no politics but is fair and square.

For a fact, however, Indonesia’s pageant fans are growing and like the Philippines and Thailand, they have the most passionate pageant fans in the world.

As for Miss Grand International, we shall keep our eyes on how would it develop in the years to come. Asian fans can only get excited as the 2017 edition of the pageant will be held in the breathtaking nation of Vietnam on October 25 next year.
