FILIPINO FANS of Shawn Mendes should be very excited by now as the Canadian singer-songwriter is set to visit Manila, Philippines for his concert in October.
Mendes is part of the line up of concerts sponsored by Smart Communications for its Smart Music Live concert series, which will kick off this Thursday, July 14 featuring artists that include Ely Buendia, and Up Dharma Down.
Born Shawn Peter Raul Mendes to a Portuguese father and English mother, Shawn attracted a huge following in 2013 through the popular video sharing application Vine. It led him to signing a recording deal in January 2014. His debut studio album ‘Handwritten’ was released after, whose single “Stitches” reached the top 10 in the U.S. and Canada, and number one in the UK.
He released his first album under Island Records in January 2014 and released his first single “Life of the Party” in June 2014. Since then, Shawn has been enjoying popularity all over the world, and has made his own brand of music loved by millions. He is set to release his new album, “Illuminate” this September. Just three days ago, he released his newest single “Ruin” in the US.
Prior to Shawn Mendes, Smart is also bringing Selena Gomez in Manila on July 31, and various artists for the ‘In the Mix’ concert on August 18.
Kat Luna-Abelarde, FVP and Head of Wireless Consumer Operations for Smart says they offer live and up close and personal experiences for Smart subscribers “because we know that music is one of the pillars of digital entertainment.”
Smart recently launched the Smart Life app where Smart users can now easily access their passions, including music, with ease. “And since Smart Life is bringing the entire music experience with you, anywhere you go, Smart Music Live on the other hand, brings subscribers right where music happens and up close with your favorite local and foreign artists,” she added.
