FIFTEEN COLLEGE STUDENTS composing the five trio-teams from various parts of the country are ready to compete for a life-changing travel experience via Cebu Pacific’s Juan For Fun Backpackers Challenge 2016, which will commence tomorrow, June 23. They faced the media with their respective coach, as a team for the first time today in a short program at the Grand Ballroom of Marriott Hotel in Pasay City, highlighted by the very first challenge via Juander Games.
Now on its fifth year, and considered the biggest by far, the challenge will last for seven days, making the participants excited to explore the country’s top destinations, try new experiences, and know the Philippines’ culture.
What makes this year’s Juan For Fun challenge the grandest is the fact that the teams get to choose their destinations of choice, says Candice Iyog, CEB Vice President for Marketing and Distribution.
The team with the most number of fun activities in their chosen places, and achieves the challenge goals wins the grand prize.
The winning team will win a one-year travel-all-you-can pass to the local destinations for free. It will be announced on June 29, when they return to Manila after exploring various local Cebu Pacific destinations with a budget of only P35,000.
Iyog said she is very optimistic with the results of the challenge. She added for the five years of doing the challenge, and giving select young individuals travel the Philippines, it makes them fulfilled to see how these students come back with a brighter perspective. “As you look at them now, they are bright, and will definitely comeback brighter,” Iyog said.
“Cebu Pacific has tapped celebrity travel enthusiasts as Adventure Coaches to guide and provide advice to the teams,” local airlines said. The list includes Saab Magalona, Robi Domingo Champ Lui Pio, Bogart the Explorer, and travel writer Jude Bacalao.
“Throughout the challenge, these celebrities will stay in touch and cheer for their respective teams through social media.”
